Make Money Online with Paid Reviews

By Mohnish On March 3, 2009 4 Comments

I have been wanting to post sponsored reviews/paid posting since I started this blog but didn’t want my readers to think that that was going to be the focus of this blog. I have learned a lot about paid posting within this last year and hope to share some things that might help you become a better paid posting blogger.

About 2 years ago PayPerPost and SponsoredReviews launched and caused an upror in the blogging community. The words ’selling your souls’ were actually used to describe those getting paid to post. This startup company wasn’t the first to explore paid posting. Blogitive had been around for almost a year before PayPerPost and SponsoredReviews launched. Much of the controversy has died down due largely to the fact that most companies now require disclosure.

I joined SponsoredReviews about 3 months back and PayPerPost yesterday. So far, I have not posted any paid reviews on the blog, but I’m looking forward to review many websites/services and getting paid for doing it! Honestly, I had started Sensonize.com only for Reviews but a website needs content and that is only possible when a blogger chooses the perfect “Niche” for his/her blog. A niche has nothing to do with making more or less money, if you choose the niche you are interested in that is the best way to start making money online. Blogging about a niche you don’t know anything about would lead to an empty blog after some time or probably no income.

There were many reasons why I din’t Sensonize.com only a review blog. Some of them are listed below:

  • Paid posting focussed blogs have to post in order to get paid. As opposed to creating a content rich blog that can generate money even with out posting first.
  • Paid posting focussed blogs loose credibility. Even the readers that you have don’t really value the posts that are unsponsored if every other post is sponsored.
  • Paid posting focussed blogs don’t usually generate high traffic therefore loose passive income opportunities ( like Text-Link-Ads, Chitika and Kontera).
  • A paid posting focussed blog that has slowed down or is dead is less likely to generate income. Passive income sources like affiliate links can still generate an income through archived pages of content rich sites.
  • Paid posting focussed blogs looses the authors pride of ownership which in turn creates less quality non paid posting content.
  • Paid posting focussed blogs generally tend to take whatever offer they can get (especially with PayPerPost) which looses the ability to get paid from high paying offers. Advertisers will eventually realize that they could have paid $10 for the review they paid $50 for.

These are just some of the reason I chose to stop focusing on paid posting and start focusing on quality content. Creating a content rich blog takes more time to develop and generate traffic but in the long run will offer you more passive income and a sense of satisfaction. Sponsored posting can be an excellent source of income as well but should never be the focus of your blog.

You can start making money online by posting paid reviews. The best recommended sources to get advertisers would be SponsoredReviews and PayPerPost.

6 Things To Do When You Have Nothing To Blog About

By Mohnish On February 28, 2009 2 Comments

Even the best writers/bloggers run into writer blocks. If this happens to you, here are 6 things you should do when you have nothing to do blog about. If you have anymore things that you would like to add, feel free to add them in the comments.

1) Check The Comments
When I have a writers block, the first thing I do is check the comments. I get many blog post ideas going through them and this is one of the best way to know what are my readers willing to read.

2) Check out other blogs in your niche
With more than 1,75,000 bloggers being added daily to the blogosphere , I’m sure you would find something to blog about easily! How do you find quality blogs? Google your keyword or checkout Technorati. I’m sure you’ll come up with 100’s of quality blogs which have quality content. Either you rewrite the content or make up your own content by selecting a topic/post title 🙂

3) Look into your archives
I’m sure you must have got many posts which have got no comments at all! Just update the date and you have a brand new article! (Evil me.. Muwahaha 👿 ). Currently Sensonize.com has 127 posts, how many of you have read each and everyone? It would be really easy for me to change the date and bring a post back on top 👿 But I wouldn’t suggest this, a better way would be to rewrite the post or make an update about it 🙂

4) Check your email
With 1,000’s of email forwards everyday, I’m sure you would find a topic to blog about or maybe your readers are mailing you with their questions. Answering them as a blog post would be the best way to answer them 😉

5) Forums of your Niche
Forums like DigitalPoint and SitePoint have thousands of posts and threads everyday(For me), check them out and I’m sure you would find something of your topic to blog about 😉

6) Twitter/Social Networking Websites
When the above ways fail, take a break and login to Twitter or any other social networking website. You might just find a new topic on Twitter 😉 It is believed that Twitter Search is as powerful as Google Search and has all the new topics in the blogosphere listed before! Use Twitter Search to find topics about your niche. Twitter Search is an extremely powerful tool for bloggers and writers.

If the above 6 ways don’t work, climb a mountain and do yoga! (Trust me, this works! I got this post by doing it lol)

Evil ways to get comments

By Mohnish On February 16, 2009 12 Comments

I’m so fed up waiting for comments that I’ve now decided to do it the ‘Evil’ way. I have tried all the ways to get comments from visitors but its been a big FAIL. For those who are not evil like me, you can see my previous blog post about getting comments the legit way.

Buy the comments
You can pay people to comment on your blog or dangle the carrot in front of them with a reply contest. I hosted a contest on Sensonize.com when it was new and easily got 20 comments 😉

The main problem with a reply to contest is it only generates comments to one post. It looks very strange to see one post with a bunch of comments and the rest with none. The solution would be to give commentators additional entries if they leave a comment in another post.

Make a commenting gang/group
For all those who yet don’t know about this, join digg! On Digg and many social networking websites friends/users make a group to Digg/Fav/Stumble etc each others submitted links which is amazingly the best way to get up.

Be Your Own Top Commentator
If all else fail then it’s time for you to be the top commentator. Make up an alias and reply to your own post. Now you may think this is dishonest but in marketing, perception is everything and the perception is a blog without any comments is not a happening blog.

I’ve seen blog posts where the blogger asked a question from his readers. A couple of days later I got back and there’s zero comments to the question. That does not look good. If you are going to ask a question from your readership and there’s no reply, then answer it yourself with an alias. Having one comment on there is better than having none. That one comment may be all that’s needed to get the comment ball rolling. If you’re really evil, you’ll set up a bunch of aliases and really make the blog come to life. Remember, perception is everything.

Being Evil is not bad! 👿

Top 7 mistakes made by bloggers

By Mohnish On January 23, 2009 4 Comments

Let me put some spotlight on the Top 7 mistakes made by bloggers. If your a blogger and your making any of the following mistakes, you need to change yourself 😉

Lazy to update your blog
This is a common mistake and is done by alot of bloggers.. So blog about anything if you don’t have a topic to blog about. Just blog about your blog updates, coming up stuff, changes etc etc.. This keeps your readers updated about you and your work 😉

Blogging only for money
This is the second mistake which is pretty common. Many bloggers don’t update their blogs until they get a sponsor for that post or they are “gaining” something. This is not only limited to reviews, but also to “Click my Adsense Ads if you like my blog” kinda messages at the end of your post. But they forget that they are losing subscribers/readers 🙂

Your view and opinion
Third mistake and maybe your most viral one. You might be a good blogger but you need to tell your readers what you think about a topic and not what others think.

Post Flooding
I won’t say that this is a mistake, but it isn’t good if your just flooding your blog by copy pasting the posts from another blog(s). You get search engine traffic, but its a waste.. They won’t visit again. If it is your original content and you are still post flooding, its useless! Your readers might not leave their comments. So make it a habit to make no more than 2 posts a day for a good reader followup 🙂

Grammar
You can blog the cool way like me or blog the serious way! My way of blogging is a bit chatty style.. I do not concentrate much on my grammer and try to keep my articles in as much simple as possible.

Replying to your comments
If you don’t reply and interact with your readers.. your hardwork is useless! You need to interact with your readers to know what they want next from you. You will also get new idea about your next article.

Blogging for search engines and not your readers
Who are you blogging for? Search engines or your readers? Well.. Sometimes it is good to blog for search engines, but only ‘some times’.. Don’t make this a habit and lose your readers!

Not reading Sensonize.com
Your biggest mistake… 😉

Are you stock piling?

By Mohnish On January 20, 2009 1 Comment

I have never talked about this but today I just thought this was the right time about talking on this topic.

What does “Stock Piling” mean?
Stock piling means keeping your content/posts ready as drafts so that you can just post them whenever you can’t think of anything new or you are just out of content!

Benefits of Stock Piling?
The benefit of stock piling is that your blog is always active and you don’t lose your readers attention.

I have been extremely busy these days with Affiliate Marketing and a new website coming up.. I will post later on about what is the new website about, but for now.. let me just stock pile some posts for you guys 😉
